A wealthy woman walked into her favorite beauty salon every Friday. She insisted on having the same makeup artist because, according to her, “He’s the only one who truly appreciates beauty.”
As soon as she sat in the chair, the makeup artist smiled warmly.
“Good morning, madam! Every time you walk in, the salon gets brighter.”
She giggled.
“Really? You always know exactly what to say.”
As he worked, he kept the compliments flowing.
“Your skin is flawless.”
“Your eyes could stop traffic.”
“Honestly, if Hollywood saw you today, they’d start casting immediately.”
The woman beamed with pride and left a very generous tip.
The next customer, who had overheard everything, laughed and asked,
“Do you always flatter your clients like that?”
The makeup artist winked.
“Of course! Happy customers come back.”
She smiled and said,
“So… none of that was true?”
He replied with a perfectly straight face,
“Oh, the compliments are free. The confidence they buy—that’s what pays my rent!”
