A professional dancer came home one evening looking unusually proud of himself.
His wife raised an eyebrow and asked, “Why are you grinning like you just won the lottery?”
The dancer puffed out his chest and said, “At tonight’s competition, the audience gave me a standing ovation! People were cheering, clapping, shouting my name—the whole place went wild!”
His wife smiled. “That’s wonderful! What happened?”
“Well,” he said, “during my grand finale, I leaped into the air, spun three times, landed on one foot, and slid across the stage.”
“Wow,” said his wife. “That sounds impressive.”
“It was!” he replied. “The crowd couldn’t stop laughing and applauding!”
His wife looked confused.
“Laughing?”
“Yes! They absolutely loved it.”
“Dear,” she said, trying not to laugh herself, “are you sure they were applauding the dance?”
“Of course they were!”
She pulled out her phone and showed him a video.
There he was on stage… slipping on his own cape, spinning completely out of control, crashing through the orchestra’s music stand, and accidentally knocking over the judge’s table.
