My parents moved in temporarily a few weeks ago because, \u201cWe\u2019re family\u201d or whatever. At first, I thought it\u2019d be fine, but my mom has basically made my wife\u2019s life miserable. He said, \u201cIf you don\u2019t do what your mother wants, we\u2019ll take our things and leave you behind. Your mother is heartbroken because of your actions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My blood ran cold. I\u2019ve never felt so trapped. My wife is telling me bluntly: leave them behind. She says they\u2019re manipulative and toxic, and I need to protect our life together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Part of me feels like I\u2019m betraying my parents, like I owe them or something. But another part of me just wants to protect my wife and our home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bright Side, I don\u2019t even know what to do here. Do I stand up to them and risk burning bridges, or do I try to keep the peace and feel like crap forever? Lock doors, change codes if\u00a0needed, or\u00a0even get a\u00a0little keypad lock for your bedroom. Sounds extreme, but it\u2019s about keeping the place safe for you and your wife.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Prepare for emotional fallout\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 This is\u00a0messy. Your mom might guilt-trip, cry, or\u00a0escalate. Your wife might feel unsafe, angry, or\u00a0disillusioned. Mentally brace for that.<br>It\u00a0doesn\u2019t make you weak, it\u00a0makes you human. Keep snacks, water, and patience on\u00a0standby. Seriously.
