A woman shared her story on Reddit.
She explained that she had posted her family drama online because it was already igniting debate. She wrote:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI (51F) put down a $20K non-refundable deposit on this gorgeous beachfront estate for my daughter, let\u2019s call her Amy\u2019s (26F), wedding next September. We booked it 18 months out. For context, and without revealing too much, it\u2019s THE venue in our area, and it has been Amy\u2019s dream wedding spot in all of her Pinterest boards.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The trouble began when her sister Carol (53F) uncovered something upsetting. She discovered news about her cheating ex-husband that cut deeply. \u201cLast month, my sister found out her cheating ex-husband, let\u2019s call him Mark (55M), proposed to his coworker (28F\u2014she was 22 when they started having an affair) who he had been having an affair with. The woman posted engagement photos from the same venue\u2026 specifically the beautiful beach area where Amy plans to have her ceremony.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The woman continued: \u201cShe called me sobbing, begging me to change venues. Says she can\u2019t watch Amy get married where Mark proposed to a girl younger than his own daughter. Can\u2019t smile for photos on THAT beach.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mother then explained the impossible position she felt she was in: \u201cI feel sick for her. I do. But: Save-the-dates already sent. Amy\u2019s dreamed of this venue since high school. Everything else is booked or three times the price.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She went on: \u201cI told Carol I can\u2019t lose the deposit and crush Amy\u2019s dreams. Carol says I\u2019m choosing money over her mental health. That I\u2019m forcing her to relive the worst betrayal of her life for \u2019pretty pictures\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI also talked to Amy about it, and she does not want a venue change.
