I\u00a0work in\u00a0a\u00a0popular beauty salon.A&nbsp;couple days ago, a&nbsp;rude client walked in&nbsp;25&nbsp;minutes late. She looked annoyed, threw her jacket on&nbsp;the couch, then loudly called the junior staff \u201cshampoo girls\u201d. She then looked me&nbsp;in&nbsp;the eye and said, \u201cDon\u2019t screw it&nbsp;up&nbsp;like always.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At&nbsp;that point, I&nbsp;just refused service. I&nbsp;told her politely that&nbsp;I wouldn\u2019t be&nbsp;taking her today and asked her to&nbsp;leave and come again when she\u2019s in&nbsp;a&nbsp;better mood. She left fuming. I&nbsp;thought that was the end of&nbsp;it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wl-brightside.cf.tsp.li\/resize\/728x\/jpg\/adc\/9ad\/15fcca5775bec20ca6cb4e0599.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This morning, everyone in&nbsp;the salon got an&nbsp;urgent email from HR. The email said, word for word, that&nbsp;<strong>\u201cour clients must always come first\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;and that from now&nbsp;on, employees are expected to&nbsp;stay pleasant and accommodating&nbsp;<em>no&nbsp;matter how rude or&nbsp;aggressive a&nbsp;client&nbsp;is.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The justification? According to&nbsp;HR, the salon\u2019s reputation depends on&nbsp;\u201cconsistently polite service\u201d and \u201cmaintaining the loyalty of&nbsp;high-value clients.\u201d They even added that we&nbsp;should \u201cadjust our tone and expectations\u201d to&nbsp;suit any client\u2019s mood because&nbsp;<em>this is&nbsp;how the salon stays afloat and attracts people with&nbsp;money.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So&nbsp;basically, the message&nbsp;is: if&nbsp;a&nbsp;customer insults you, demeans you, shows up&nbsp;whenever they feel like it\u2014you smile, nod, and serve them anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s no\u00a0mention of\u00a0staff dignity.
