She folds her arms, whispering sharply, \u201cNo way. It\u2019s way too risky!\u201dDesperate now, he pleads, \u201cPlease, I love you so much!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before she can reply, the porch light flicks on.
A deep, calm voice cuts through the night:
\u201cWell, young man,\u201d her father says from the doorway, \u201cwhy don\u2019t you two take this conversation inside? Maybe your mother and I can help you figure out the logistics.\u201dThe boy turns pale. The girl buries her face in her hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the father steps forward, arms crossed, he adds dryly,
\u201cAnd just so you know, the entire neighborhood heard you. Next time, maybe try texting.\u201dThe young man stammers an apology and bolts for his car as the girl\u2019s father calls out,

Inside, the girl can\u2019t decide whether to laugh or hide forever.
